Artist's Description
I intentionally wanted this piece to be a bit looser with a slightly more rustic feel than my last painting. Since I only have these bagpipes for a limited time, I intend to do a couple more paintings of this subject before I have to return them. This is an up-close view of the chanter (or fingered section) of the Grainger bagpipes that belonged to my Father-in-Law�s uncle. They are from the mid 40�s and haven�t been played for at least 40 years. I painted this piece with Rublev 18th century reproduction paint on Arches 140# cold-pressed paper. The interaction of the Arches paper with the coarse pigmented Rublev paint helps to achieve some interesting granulation characteristics in the piece. The original is 14�x10.25� in size.
